Excessive runoff resulting from the remnants of Hurricane Ida resulted in the contamination of New Street Reservoir with untreated water. PVWC is continuing to isolate the New Street Reservoir from the distribution system, while pumping treated water into the reservoir to spill over muddy water.
Of the 15 follow up samples collected in the distribution system on September 2, 2021, ane sample was positive for coliform leaner. The contaminated h2o was flushed out of the distribution system by our field crews and subsequent samples were negative for coliform bacteria. PVWC volition continue enhanced monitoring in the system and testing for microbial contagion through the duration of the Boil H2o Advisory.
We are working closely with the NJ Section of Environmental Protection to ensure that the drinking water provided to your customs is restored in a safe and timely manner. Please continue to boil your water or use bottled water until you are notified that the water quality is satisfactory. This advisory will remain in effect until repairs are completed and testing shows the water quality to be safety.
